What happened today:


144 MHz: Today we start some VHF activity. DL1MAJ and DJ9KV operated 5C8M on 144 MHz (some CT1, EA7 and EA4 stations up to the 800 km range) running a Kenwood TS-711A with Henry 2002 amp and a 11/11 stacked yagi array.
50 MHz: DL6FBL (who never operated 6 meters before) switched on 6 meters (Icom IC-736 barefoot and a 5-ele Tonna) and found two nice openings: a F-layer opening to South Africa and the Indian Ocean and a E-layer opening to middle/western France and southern England. Some 65 QSOs within an hour, beginner's luck...


Last year we were not loud enough on 40 meters. So we decided to have a dedicated 24m tower directly on the cliff this year. On top is a rotary 3-el KLM, below a Cushcraft 40-2CD. The top antenna is more than 60 meters directly over the ocean... First tests show good signals  :-)
