What happened today:
  • Sucessful 144 MHz EME contacts with W5UN, VE7BQH and some W7 (OP DL1MAJ).
  • Last operator (DL1MGB) arrived today at noon and was picked up from the airport.
  • 40m: StackMaster installed. But 40m Rotator is stuck now.
  • Log Periodic RX antenna installed on hotel's rooftop (for monitoring station).
  • Beverage Antennas checked and found OK.
  • 10m amplifier: Cooling Fan is stuck and needs service...
  • 160m L antenna array went into operation (Test QSO with V26B sucessful).
  • 80m and 160m stations fully operational now.
  • Fine tuning and several small problems fixed. Burn-in testing sucessfully finished.
  • 10m: 2nd station computer swapped to new Toshiba notebook.
  • 15m: 2nd station computer swapped to old, reliable Siemens PCD4.
  • DL1MGB, DL1IAO and DL6RAI went swimming today.

Left: The 15m team (so-called "Swebian Kindergarten"): DL1IAO (age 25), DH1SGS (age 19, sitting), DL2MEH (age 29, ok ok...). Right: S50S giving service to the 10m power amplifier cooling fan.

Left: 10m Yagi array. Cushcraft XM510s on top and bottom. Cushcraft 10-4CDs in between. Top antenna rotary, next fixed EU, next fixed US, next fixed South America. Swinging the top antenna to South America allowed stacking the two Yagis, which REALLY made a hearable difference working Japan Longpath !
Right: The three highband towers (l-to-r: 10, 15, 20m)

Left: CN8WW roundtable DX net (l-to-r): DL6RAI (not visible), DL8WPX, DL1MGB, DL1IAO, DL4MCF, DL8OH (Mr. President!), DJ7EO (not visible), DK6WL, HA0DU, S50S, DL1MFL, DJ9KV, DK4VW, chef de la cuisine (standing), DK7YY, DH1SGS, DL6FBL (eating).
Right: DK4VW, DK7YY, DH1SGS discussing traditional Moroccan food (Tajine) and the quality of the local wine (Cuvée de President Cabernet).

Open Problems and Plan for October 27

  • Fix 40m Rotator.
  • Swap 80m computers. Fix 160m crashing computers.
  • Operator briefing at 13:00 UTC.
  • DL6FBL teaching Spanish to 10m OPs.

Thanks for working CN8WW again this year in CQ Worldwide DX Contest:
